  • Becca Gray

    BOARD PRESIDENT

    Becca and her husband, Paul, used to live in Ethiopia where they worked and served at a hospital. Becca knows firsthand many of the challenges that come with ministry, and she is passionate about serving people in local or overseas ministry. They currently live in Fort Worth, Texas with their three children: Nathan, Lydia, and Elizabeth. Becca has a master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Cross-Cultural Ministries and she spends her time volunteering for her kids’ schools, their church, and Azmera.

  • Karen Thacker

    BOARD SECRETARY

    Karen discovered the value of encouraging women who work overseas while visiting an NGO in Afghanistan in 2010. In 2017 she joined Azmera for the first time to love on women in Poland and has volunteered on several retreats since. She has been a licensed counselor in private practice for 14 years and is an adjunct professor for the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine training future generations of counselors. She is working on her PhD through the Townsend Institute to fulfill her passion for contributing to the field of counseling. She and her husband David live in Erie, CO. They have five children between them aged 25-40 and four grandchildren.

  • Annette Nicholl

    Annette served with CRU campus ministry for 20 years, 8 Years in Irkutsk, Russia. Currently, she and her husband Spencer serve in Member Care for Samaritans Purse and direct Big Horn Ministries in Ohio City, Ohio. Their mission is to help people take their next step in life and toward Christ. They offer a place in their remote Colorado location for respite and rest for those who are in crisis, burned out, or just need a break. Her passion is to help women get back to a listening place with the Lord. She has three grown children; Andrew, Kayla and Kate. 

  • Whitney Ohman Costa

    Whitney serves as Worship Pastor at Ascent Church in Colorado. She has a deep passion for leading, growing and discipling young women so they may know how incredibly loved they are by Jesus, and how exceptionally beautiful they are in the eyes of Jesus. She believes that women are turned into incredible tools for the Kingdom of God when they realize who they are as the Beloved of Jesus Christ! Whitney also owns and operates a vocal and piano studio where she teaches young people to grow in their abilities and appreciation of music. She and her husband Wilson have an adorable, treasured son.

  • Amy Young

    Amy worked in China for nearly 20 years, holding various leadership roles in English Language Institute/China. She founded Global Trellis which provides on-going spiritual and professional development for Great Commission Christians working cross-culturally. Amy's written five books, currently lives in Colorado, is a licensed counselor, and loves all things Denver Broncos. 

  • Shirley Suedkamp

    Shirley had a passion for storytelling and writing early in her life. When she came to the Lord at age 7, through a worker in Bangladesh, she got involved in her church right away. A friend of her mom encouraged her to be a teacher, so she did for several years. Twenty years ago the Lord led her to go to beauty school, instead of pursuing a masters in education. Now she knows that her training was to be used to care for workers. Shirley is happily married, with 2 adult children.

  • Christina Carter

    Having served overseas for 15 years with Cru (12 yrs in Kazakhstan), Christina understands the value of being nurtured, loved, and encouraged while living abroad. She has managed retreats for women serving overseas in over 15 countries. She is passionate about mobilizing believers for what God is doing overseas. When attaining her Bachelor’s degree in Travel & Tourism and Marketing, she never imagined God’s great plans for her. She loves being a wife to Andy and a mom to 3 TCKs Holly, Curran, and Ian.
