WHO IS AZMERA?

Azmera is an African word that simply means harvest.

"He told them, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field'." Luke 10:2

At Azmera, our goal is to be a part of nurturing and impacting cross-cultural global workers from various nations already in the harvest field, so that they can serve God and others to their fullest potential and remain faithful to their calling overseas, resulting in more people coming to a saving knowledge of Christ. We are made up of women, both on staff and volunteer members, who are dedicated to encouraging workers all over the globe.

"The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you;

in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing."  Zephaniah 3:17

We want to remind these women serving overseas that God loves and delights in them, so much so that the tending to their hearts is just as vital as the work in which they are involved. Through ongoing care for their relationship with God and their families, we believe that these global workers will be at a better place to serve and to flourish where they are serving.

Why focus on global workers? Because many of these women have invested huge amounts of time, money, physical and emotional energy to follow God’s call overseas and they need encouragement, just like we do. Maybe even more so. Many of them live in very challenging circumstances while living far from their families and dearest friends. Our hope is that we can be a part of nurturing and impacting these women so that they will be healthy on the field and remain faithful to serving Jesus overseas. We, with you, desire to see more people to come to a saving knowledge of Christ, thus a furthering of God's Kingdom. Overall, we want to invest in the huge investment these workers have already made.

Why include other expats, military wives, women overseas for business, USAID, oil companies, etc.? Many women find themselves overseas and are just as intentional about touching their communities. They too are inspired by the opportunity to commune with Jesus and connect with others.

Women of what nationalities are welcome? We welcome English-speaking women from various nationalities. Most missions teams are made up of people from varying nations. We'd like to provide a place for the women on those teams to come and be nurtured, restored, and encouraged together.

Why fair trade? More and more global workers and expats are involved in fair trade as they pursue sustainability for themselves as well as the nationals in the country they are serving. When we act intentionally to promote fair trade products, produced with respect for people and the environment, we empower communities, improve lives and gain credibility to share Christ's love.

As we pursue God, we want to follow Christ's example of humility and find our strength in the Lord.

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.

My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Psalm 28:7
